Bell County · Belton ISD
Belton for its own school district
Belton is the town that leaves Killeen ISD. Schools here are Belton ISD, and the elementary boundaries adopted in March 2023 are still the ones in use for 2026–27. The morning from City Hall at 333 Water St to Bernie Beck Main Gate is 21.5 miles, typically 20 to 24 minutes. That is a different commute from Killeen or Harker Heights, and the Category A mean sits between those two. The installation is Fort Hood. Papers from 2023 to 2025 can still read Fort Cavazos. The rename back to Fort Hood is dated June 11, 2025, and the ceremony was July 28, 2025, for namesake Col. Robert B. Hood.

Where 21.5 miles sits in the set
Put the four origins in order of the measured Monday morning and Belton is third. Killeen City Hall, 101 N College, is 2.6 miles and 4 to 7 minutes. Harker Heights, 305 Millers Crossing, is 8.0 miles and 9 to 14 minutes on the short I-14 drive. Belton City Hall is 21.5 miles and 20 to 24 minutes. Temple, 2 N Main St, is 29.0 miles and 26 to 35 minutes. The jump that matters is from Harker Heights to Belton: the range roughly doubles, and the top of Belton's range is still under Temple's bottom only on some readings of the bands. Twenty minutes is the short end here. Twenty-four is the long end of a typical Monday, not a worst-day story beyond what Google returned.
Every one of those ranges ends at the Bernie Beck / Marvin Leath area, was taken for Monday, October 5, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. Central, and was corroborated to the OpenStreetMap Bernie Beck pin. The ID check is excluded. City Hall at 333 Water St is the repeatable origin. A house on the north edge of Belton is a different start.

A mean between the two closer towns
Belton's Category A mean is under Harker Heights and above both Temple and Killeen. The count is the smallest of the four. A small count is a reason to read the mean as a citywide certified figure, not as a description of one street. It is not a median and not a sale price. Texas is a non-disclosure state, and the number in the box comes from Bell CAD's 2025 certified ARB totals, dated 8/4/2025. Harker Heights and Temple also publish a homestead average in that report. Belton's page uses the Category A mean. The three BAH rows beside it are E-5, E-6, and O-3 with dependents for TX286. They are monthly. They are not a payment built from the mean. Duty ZIP 76544 sets the allowance. Belton's cited ZIP, 76513, does not replace it.
Belton ISD, including boundaries that have stayed put
Students here are in Belton ISD. The district's Infofinder is the locator this site is pointing at, and an address still needs confirming with the district. The elementary boundaries drawn in March 2023 are the boundaries still in use for the 2026–27 year. That is a stability fact, not a campus list. Killeen and Harker Heights are Killeen ISD by address. Temple is where Belton ISD appears again, overlapping the west and southwest of that city alongside Temple ISD, Academy ISD, and Troy ISD. A Belton address and a west-Temple address can share a district name and still be different cities, with different drives to Bernie Beck.
The welcome center those longer minutes are aiming at is open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, Bldg 69012, T.J. Mills Blvd, adjacent to the main gate. Bernie Beck itself is 24/7 every day and is closed to commercial cargo trucks. Cargo uses the North Clarke Road ACP. A 20-to-24-minute drive that depends on the main gate still has a gate at 5 a.m. The visitor center's day is shorter than the gate's day.

Who it suits
Belton suits a Fort Hood household that wants Belton ISD, can use a 21.5-mile morning, and is comparing a Category A mean that lands between the Killeen low and the Harker Heights high. It suits someone who wants the elementary map to be the March 2023 map still posted for 2026–27, and who will still run the address through Infofinder.
It is a weak fit when the priority is the 4-to-7-minute Killeen start or the 9-to-14-minute Harker Heights start. It is a weak fit for a reader who came for Killeen ISD. It is a weak fit for a reader who needs Temple's four-district warning. Belton's district name is one name, with the elementary boundary date attached.
